CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A very special birthday celebration took place in Charlottesville on Saturday for Julius Johnson II — affectionately known as J2 — as he marked his second birthday at home for the first time since birth.

Diagnosed in utero with thanatophoric dysplasia — a rare and typically fatal skeletal disorder — J2’s journey has defied the odds.
