BEAVERTON, Ore. — In Beaverton Saturday, several events made adjustments to better beat the heat.
That included the Sunset Youth Football Jamboree, which had to make changes to the start times of the games. The games were moved up four hours from 12 p.m. to 8 a.m. to avoid having the kids play in the sweltering heat.
“Earlier in the week, we were looking at the weather, realized it was going to be a real warm day. We decided that we needed to compress the schedule, move it earlier in the morning,” Sunset Youth Football President Charles Carter said.
Carter said extra precautions are always taken when it gets hot, but this is the first time the jamboree’s schedule has had to be changed.
