SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — Jet ski riders were rescued from Lake Michigan on Saturday afternoon after spilling into the high waves, South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) said.

Deputies from the Marine Division of the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office assigned to South Haven rescued the jet ski riders about two miles southwest of the lighthouse.

SHAES said deputies pulled the riders out of the water after their jet ski overturned and couldn't be righted.

The people and their jet ski were safely returned to the shore.

SHAES said when the rescue happened, red flags were flying along the shoreline with waves reported as being four to six feet tall.
