TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Tuscarawas County high school football player was paralyzed after an injury at a game on Friday night.
According to the mother of the player, Amanda White, her son, Mayson White, fractured his C4 during Tuscarawas Valley’s game against Waynedale.
The 15-year-old Mayson was taken to Akron Children’s where they were told the fracture was putting pressure on his spine, according to Amanda.
Mayson had surgery and is still recovering.
“He has some movement in his right arm but not his hand and he can shrug his shoulders, but nothing in his legs,” Amanda released. “And although this was not the outcome we had been hoping for, we are just soo thankful that he is still here with us!”
