PULLMAN, Wash. – A former teaching assistant at Washington State University has been sentenced to one week in jail and a year of probation following an attack on a student.
According to our reporting partners at the Spokesman-Review , the incident involved Patrick Mahoney, 34, who reportedly attacked a WSU student wearing a Donald Trump hat.
The incident took place on February 28 when police say the victim threw a bag of food at Mahoney. Mahoney and another man then pushed the 25-year-old student to the ground and punched him.
Mahoney was ordered to pay $30 to the victim and more than $560 in restitution.
