Coventry City swept aside a shell-shocked Queens Park Rangers in a 7-1 thrashing to mark an historic day in the club’s history – the Sky Blues finally taking ownership of the CBS Arena.

First half goals from Haji Wright (2), Brandon Thomas-Asante and Jack Rudoni (2) were added to after the break by a Victor Torp double as Frank Lampard’s charges put Rangers to the sword in front of over 29,000 fans.

It was fitting that on such a momentous occasion off the pitch that City put themselves in the history books on it, scoring the most goals they’ve ever done at the stadium in all competitions as well as the most goals they’ve ever scored in the second tier.
