As colleges reopen, a great service project for students would be to advocate for feeding hungry children displaced by war.
Think of the children from Sudan, a country devastated by civil war and famine. Sudanese kids and their families have fled to neighboring Chad. The children get a chance to go to school there and get meals provided by the UN World Food Program.
School meals become a lifeline for the refugee kids from Sudan, preventing starvation and giving them the strength to learn. The school meals also feed hungry children in Chad and other impoverished host nations. But these hungry kids can only get the meals if they have support from advocates in the United States and other donor countries.
Sadly, many times school feeding programs don’t get enough funding
