Kyle Hendricks, who won a World Series ring with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, will face his former team for the first time Sunday.
Hendricks, who signed with the Los Angeles Angels over the offseason, is scheduled to start Sunday’s series finale, and will take the ball against the team where he played for the first 11 seasons of his big-league career.
The Cubs acquired Hendricks in a 2012 trade with the Rangers that sent Ryan Dempster to Texas. He ultimately made his MLB debut in the 2014 season, finishing in seventh place in Rookie of the Year voting.
Hendricks’ 2016 season was undoubtedly his best, as he had a record of 16-8 and an ERA of 2.13. He finished third in Cy Young voting and had the distinction of starting Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, pitching 7.1 innings
