A series of thunderstorms tore through parts of upstate New York Sunday afternoon, prompting numerous severe thunderstorm warnings across multiple counties and briefly triggering a tornado warning in Wayne County.

At 1:20 p.m., the National Weather Service in Buffalo issued a tornado warning for southeastern Wayne County, citing radar-indicated rotation from a storm located near Lyons, moving northeast at 25 mph. The warning expired at 2:00 p.m., and no confirmed tornado touchdown had been reported as of press time. The storm was capable of producing half-dollar-sized hail and dangerous winds.
