MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A 21-year-old man faces charges of child abuse involving two toddlers, after bystanders heard the children scream, and others held the man until police arrived.

Kae'Ren Pullen is in jail, charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect.

Police said officers were called and flagged down around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of Airways Boulevard north of I-240.

Inside a laundromat, officers say bystanders were caring for two bruised and bloodied children, a 2-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl. Police said both were swollen, and the boy had blood flowing from his head.

A witness told police she and her mother heard children screaming, and saw Pullen dragging them into a Honda Civic.
