MADISON, Wis. — Approximately 30 barbers dedicated their Sunday to ensuring 1,000 children could start the school year with confidence through free haircuts at an annual back-to-school event.

The "Back 2 School" celebration, organized by JP Hair Design in partnership with Barbers United, marked its 17th year of serving Madison families who need assistance preparing their children for the new academic year.

For Shaya Harrison, a mother of three, the timing of the event provided crucial relief during a challenging period.

"I suffer financial hardship. And I just want to say thank you for this program," Harrison said.
