SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A local barbershop helped families get ready for the school year by giving students free haircuts.

The Man Shop in Spokane Valley knows back-to-school shopping costs a lot of money. Haircuts often get skipped when families need to buy supplies and clothes.

Jaidell Davis, a high school senior, got a free cut. For him, it's about more than just looking good.

"I'm job hunting and that helps," Davis said.

Davis knows many families struggle to pay for haircuts.

"Free student haircut allows for those families that are struggling and can't always get those haircuts," he said.

By 9 a.m., students were already waiting in line for the 10 a.m. start time. Hundreds of kids got haircuts that day.
