HAMPTON, N.H. (WCAX) - State police in New Hampshire are investigating the death of a teenager at a popular beach.
Police say the Marine Patrol division of the New Hampshire State Police got a call about a possible drowning on Sunday night around 6:45.
The victim is a 17-year-old boy. We do not know his name.
Witnesses said the teenager had been swimming with his family when he was pulled away from shore due to a strong ocean current.
His father tried to save him, but he also began to struggle.
Lifeguards, who were off duty at the time, were called in to help.
Despite efforts to resuscitate, the teenager was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim’s father is stable this morning.
