LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With the new school year in full swing, Jefferson County Public Schools is still working to fill several teacher vacancies . One area particularly in need is special education instructors.

Churchill Park School in Louisville serves students with severe medical or behavioral needs. School staff said they hope to redefine special needs education through smaller class sizes, individualized learning techniques and community involvement opportunities.

“Churchill Park is so special because we are able to reach students at a level that they cannot get anywhere else," said Katie Priddy, Churchill Park early childhood special education teacher.
