The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has faced fierce criticism for refusing to respond to 'fly-tipping' fires at a Scottish travellers site.

Furious residents claim travellers at the Granton location routinely accumulate fly-tipped waste and general refuse before setting it ablaze.

The unauthorised travellers site sits on Scottish Government land designated for a national collection of 130,000 artworks in a new cutting-edge facility on Edinburgh's waterfront.

Despite planning consent being approved last month, scores of motorhomes and caravans remain illegally stationed at the location.
