NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — Harvest season is upon us, and farmers and ranchers are working hard to grow their crops and transport goods.

The Department of Transportation's (NDDOT) Vision Zero program is reminding drivers to be cautious while driving this time of year and to watch out for large and slow-moving farm equipment.

Due to the bulkiness and heavy weight of farm and ranch equipment, operators tend to have a more difficult time to accelerate, slow down, and stop. They also have large blind spots, making it more challenging for operators to see oncoming vehicles.

Drivers should take extra precautions when driving near these vehicles, including to keep a safe distance away from them whenever possible.
