TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio ( WOIO /Gray News) - Both family and community members are praying for a high school football player from Ohio who was paralyzed by a tackle during a game.
Mayson White is a 15-year-old freshman football player at Tuscarawas Valley High School. He fractured his C4 vertebra during Friday night’s game against Waynedale, according to his mother, Amanda White.
White says Mayson was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital, where the family was told the fracture was putting pressure on his spine. He underwent surgery and is still recovering.
Mayson currently has some movement in his right arm but not his hand nor his legs, according to his mother.
“Although this was not the outcome we had been hoping for, we are just soo thankful that he is still here with us!” she said.
