MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A former basketball coach was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after being found guilty of transporting a minor for sex, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
Andreus Shannon, 44, of Memphis, Tennessee, was a basketball coach for an area homeschool association. Shannon was found guilty of traveling in interstate commerce to engage in sexual activity with a minor under 16 years old and stalking after the minor turned 18.
As a basketball coach, Shannan groomed the parents and a minor female basketball player until he gained their trust to drive the player to practices and scrimmages in Mississippi and Tennessee.
