For years, Disney staff members were not allowed to ‘ruin the magic’ in any way. This mostly meant that workers were asked to always stay in character, no matter what. That’s why the company adopted strict regulations, according to which its employees are not allowed to post any backstage videos, for instance, showing themselves getting ready for their shift.

Just as you don’t want your kids to see the real actor dressed as Santa Claus at the mall, you don't want them to see Disney characters getting off their wigs and wearing their normal clothes at the end of their working hours.
