MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) — Madison police say a portion of Route 1 is closed Monday after a vehicle struck a bridge.

Police said the road is closed between Wildwood Avenue and Mungertown Road as crews respond.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible, with delays expected.

The following detours are in place: • Westbound traffic: Mungertown → Nortontown → Green Hill → Wildwood → back to Route 1 • Eastbound traffic: Wildwood → Green Hill → Nortontown → Mungertown → back to Route 1
