HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - There have been six fire-related deaths in Connecticut just in the past two weeks and 27 so far this year, officials want you to be safe.
A small flame can turn into a major fire in less than 30 seconds and that’s not an exact exaggeration.
Fire officials are providing some tips to keep you safe in a dangerous situation:
You want to make sure you have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home.
Always replace your batteries twice a year.
Replace your smoke alarm unit every 10 years.
Never disable the alarm while you’re cooking.
You can get audio alarms or alarms with vibrating pads or flashing lights depending on how well you can see, or hear.
Always have two escape routes and sleep with the doors closed, because it will buy you time by keeping smoke
