ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — New York State Police announced they uncovered thousands of files containing sexually explicit content involving children from a Hamlin man.

This was the result of a joint investigation with NYSP and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Troopers said in August 2023, they searched the home of 74-year-old Peter Tonery and found over 820,000 files amongst his electronic devices that depicted children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Tonery was arrested on Monday and has been charged with possession of sexual performance by a child. He was issued an appearance ticket and must return to Hamlin Town Court on September 15.
