GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A Greenville retirement community said it evacuated its residents when a gas line puncture was reported Monday morning.

Piedmont Natural Gas officials said they were called at 10:25 a.m. and told that a third party contractor damaged a line near the Merrill Gardens at Greenville located at 90 Payne Street.

Once Merrill Gardens staff members were made aware, all residents were evacuated to the Kroc Center.

Crews went to make repairs and the gas was turned off around 11:05 a.m.

Officials said that everyone returned to the building, and that there were no medical issues.
