After three years of waiting his turn, Ty Simpson will take his first snaps as Alabama’s starting quarterback this week.

Simpson was named the starter during training camp and will make his first start when the No. 8 Crimson Tide plays Florida State on Saturday (2:30 p.m. CT, ABC) at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.

Simpson has played before for Alabama, but he’s never been in this situation as QB1. What’s the Crimson Tide’s message to Simpson?

“Just play ball,” Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said Monday. “I think that Ty plays his best when he stays calm and collected just like any quarterback. I think as long as he stays within himself and doesn’t try to make each play bigger than it is, he’ll be just fine.”
