PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Fire crews are on scene of a potentially dangerous gas leak in Northeast Portland, according to emergency officials.

Portland Fire and Rescue responded to the area of 11400th block of NE Morris Street around 11:40 a.m. after a construction crew “struck an underground gas mine with an underground drill,” crews said.

Reports from the scene say there is an “obvious leak with the gas pushing through the soil.”

NW Natural crews are reporting to the scene, but have an estimated time of arrival of 12 p.m. PF&R is remaining on the scene in the meantime.
