NEW LLANO, La. (KPLC) - A New Llano man is facing charges after his 3-month-old baby was hospitalized for brain bleeding and fractured ribs.

Michael Wallin, 36, faces four counts of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

On Aug. 15, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office learned the baby was taken to a local hospital to be treated for brain bleeding, VPSO said.

The infant was later taken to a facility in Shreveport, where it was discovered that they were also suffering from fractured ribs in various states of healing, VPSO said. Medical personnel described the injuries as non-accidental trauma.

Wallin, the baby’s father, initially told hospital staff that the child fell out of a bouncy chair, according to VPSO. However, physicians noted the extent of the baby’s injuries did not match Wallin’
