RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A man is now in custody after police said he shot at a vehicle and hit the driver.

Police were called to the scene of the 800 block of Old Denny Street around 11:39 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a shooting. After arriving, another caller reported an injured driver on the 2700 block of East Main Street.

Police found the driver with a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening. There was a passenger in the car as well, but they were not injured.

The driver was taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Officials believe the the shooter on Old Denny Street fired his handgun towards the car after the driver picked up the passenger as a ride share.

The rear window of the car was broken.

Now, Elwood Lewis, 46, of Richmond is under arrest and charged with
