RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A new at home flu-vaccine is hitting the market.

AstraZeneca’s Flu-Mist, which has Food and Drug Administration approval, can now be home delivered to people in 34 states under the brand name “flu-mist home.”

Health officials said the nasal spray vaccine can be self-administered by most adults from the comfort of their home.

VCU Health’s epidemiologist Dr. Michelle Doll said overall, at-home options are a great choice for folks who face barriers with medication access.

“It really expands the amount of people, who are really going to get the vaccine, which is the whole goal. Having the option to doing it at home would allow more people to get the flu shot, that’s a win for everyone,” Dr. Doll said.
