NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A man from Texas is facing multiple felony charges after North Platte Police say he attempted to fraudulently withdraw money from a local bank.

According to the North Platte Police Department, officers were called to Wells Fargo in downtown North Platte on Friday after reports of a suspicious transaction.

Upon arrival, Jiancheng Chen of Dallas, Texas was identified as the suspect. According to investigators, the 29-year-old had been traveling across several states, visiting banks and accessing victims’ accounts using stolen personal information obtained fraudulently through scams.

Officers seized approximately $36,000 in cash believed to be connected to the fraudulent activity, along with materials suggesting ties to a criminal syndicate based in another stat
