The Detroit Lions are waiving one of the most productive wide receivers of the NFL preseason, The Detroit News has learned.

Wide receiver Jackson Meeks, an undrafted rookie from Syracuse, has been waived by the Lions and will now go through waivers. If he clears waivers, the team hopes to re-sign him to its practice squad.

Meeks caught 11 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns during the preseason but was shut out in his chance to make a final impression. He had one target and no receptions in Saturday's 26-7 loss to the Houston Texans at Ford Field.

Following his seven-catch, 93-yard performance against the Miami Dolphins , it seemed Meeks had grabbed the inside rail for one of the final receiver jobs.
