ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque mother is facing charges after telling police she wanted to harm her toddler. On Sunday, the Albuquerque Police Department found Jessica Crespin at a bus stop, in a daze with her two-year-old daughter, who was only wearing a diaper in the rain. The officer believed Crespin was having a mental episode based on her behavior and use of meth.
Police said Crespin told them she wanted to slit her toddler's throat and wrist. Police also found a box cutter on Crespin. They said the toddler had lacerations on her neck and lower leg. The daughter was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital for further evaluation and drug screening, but the results have not been released.
Crespin is facing a child abuse charge. The state has asked that she be held in
