TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Last weekend, Brookwood’s own Mason Howell made golf history by becoming the third-youngest winner of the U.S. Amateur Championship—and the youngest American ever to claim the title, surpassing Tiger Woods.

Following his historic win, the Brookwood senior was quick to credit his hometown of Thomasville for their unwavering support. On Monday, the Thomasville City Council honored the young golfer for his remarkable achievement. Mayor Todd Mobley offered his congratulations and wished Howell continued success in his golfing career. The event concluded with a standing ovation from those in attendance.
