DIXON, Illinois (KWQC) - A Chicago man faces several charges after he tried to run from police on Sunday.
Authorities say Jamie Santiago had already sped away from police once when they found him again around 9:40 near Dixon High School. When police tried to stop him, he took off, going 25 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
Deputies say Santiago blew past a stoplight and stop sign before he collided with another vehicle near Peoria Avenue and Third Street.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office did not say if anyone was hurt in the crash, but they did arrest Santiago and found a gun in his car.
He faces several charges, including felonies for aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer.
