A murder investigation has been initiated following the discovery of charred human remains in Savernake Forest, Wiltshire. The remains were found by a dog walker at approximately 8am on Monday. Emergency services were promptly alerted and arrived at the scene to investigate.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that they received a report of a body being found in the forest. A police cordon was established to facilitate forensic examinations. A spokesperson for the police stated, "Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man’s next of kin."
Authorities have advised the public to steer clear of the area while the investigation continues, although it is reported that the cordon has since been lifted. At this time, police have not disclosed how long the remains may have been at the location or whether the death is being treated as suspicious.
