WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A man died in the hospital early Tuesday morning after he was shot in Southeast D.C., marking D.C.'s first deadly shooting in nearly two weeks.
Just minutes before 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 26, officers responded to the 300 block of Anacostia Road for a shooting. There, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Medics rushed the man to the hospital. Responders tried to save him, but he died there.
As of Tuesday morning, no arrests have been made, and police have not released the man's name.
The shooting death comes just over two weeks after President Donald Trump issued a crime emergency in the District, taking federal control of MPD as well as deploying federal agents and troops across the city. Under
