Water meters in Salemburg are being broken repeatedly after unaware drivers run them over.
The matter was discussed at the Salemburg town board meeting Thursday night. Water meters today are not the same as they used to be, town officials say. According to Salemburg town clerk Teresa Smith, the covers on water meter boxes used to be made out of a much more durable material such as metal. As a result of this someone could easily drive over them and the water meter inside would be relatively unharmed. Now, as time has passed, the water meter box has changed, now being made of a much less durable material. What hasn’t changed is the possibility of driving over them.
