ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A surprising third name has emerged in Michigan’s expanded crop of receivers.
Sophomore Channing Goodwin has joined established transfer Donaven McCulley and returner Semaj Morgan in the starting conversation ahead of Saturday’s season opener against New Mexico (7:30 p.m., NBC).
“You guys have heard about (Donaven McCulley); he earned the No. 1, he will be the No. 1 guy,” Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore told reporters on Monday. “You go out there in 11 personnel on Day 1 and it’s going to be Semaj Morgan, but the other guy that’s really stepped up has been Channing Goodwin.
“He’s really taken the next step to be that third guy.”
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds, Goodwin redshirted in 2024, appearing in just four games, three of which were at receiver. He did not
