KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney woman will be sentenced for manslaughter in October, about a year after her husband was shot to death.
Karen Geisler, 57, was arrested after Kearney Police found 62-year-old Jimmy Geisler shot and wounded Oct. 20, 2024, at a home in the 1800 block of Seventh Avenue. He later died in the hospital.
Geisler was originally charged with second-degree murder as well as use of a firearm to commit a felony. But court records show Geisler pled no contest to manslaughter in a plea bargain. She also pled no contest and was convicted on the weapons charge.
She’ll be sentenced Oct. 24. The max penalty for manslaughter is 20 years in prison. The max penalty for the weapons charge is 50 years in prison. But court records indicate that prosecutors would recommend shor
