LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is warning people about a new scam circulating on social media.

Scammers are impersonating legitimate companies and advertising steep discounts on brand-name products.

Clicking on one of these scam ads can lead you to a fake website designed to steal your money and personal information, such as your Social Security number or bank account details.

If you make a purchase, you might receive a cheap knockoff or nothing at all. And if you share personal information, scammers may use it to steal your identity.
