Michael Proctor , the former trooper fired in connection with the Karen Read case , is appearing before the Civil Service Commission on Tuesday for the first of five days of hearings on his bid to get his job back .

Proctor was fired by state police on March 19 over misconduct during the Read investigation, which included sending derogatory texts about her and messages to non-law enforcement detailing the investigation at its early stages.

The former trooper has appealed his termination to the commission, which reviews “appeals filed by certain state and municipal employees...including discipline.”

The hearing is being held in person in Boston. Proctor attended the hearing with his wife and other supporters.
