A grandfather's visit to a suburban grocery store turned out to be a lucky one after he won the grand prize from a scratch-off ticket -- which he only chose because his favorite game was sold out.

According to the Illinois Lottery, Clarence Nuenkirchen of Montgomery won $200,000 from a 7X Bingo Multiplier scratch-off ticket sold at Jewel-Osco, located at 3795 Orchard Road in Oswego.

“I was hoping to buy my favorite $5 Crossword ticket, but it was sold out,” Neuenkirchen said in the release. “7X Bingo Multiplier is my second favorite—it feels like a little escape. I can take my time playing it.”

Neuenkirchen, a grandfather, said his wife jumped up and down with excitement when he shared the news.
