For the fifth time this year in Pontiac, a pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle and killed.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said this latest incident happened Monday shortly before 4 p.m. when 77-year-old Jehan Alrayess of West Bloomfield was trying to cross Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Elm Street when he stepped into the path of a 2022 GMC Sierra towing a trailer. Based on preliminary findings, it’s believed Alrayess was lost and attempting to cross the roadway to ask for directions, the sheriff’s office said.
Star EMS transported Alrayess to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he died from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
