Frontier Airlines, the Denver, Colorado-based no-frills carrier appears to be targeting Spirit Airlines.

No frills Frontier Airlines is offering fares from Detroit as low as $49 as part of a promotion to tout that it is adding six new routes to and from Detroit Metro Airport and compete with Spirit Airlines.

"Frontier is not just about delivering low fares," airline CEO Barry Biffle said Aug 28 in prepared remarks to the Free Press. "We’ve made major enhancements, from product upgrades to the most rewarding loyalty program, and investments in technology and service, as part of The New Frontier."
