SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A 35-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to a Sioux City death was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Court documents show Katrina Barnes of Sioux City was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 25, for one count of voluntary manslaughter and one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - fentanyl. She received ten years for each count.
Barnes was originally charged with murder after a June 2022 shooting that resulted in the death of 32-year-old Dolorean Wade of Sioux City.
In her plea agreement, Barnes signed a statement saying she intentionally shot Wade and that “the shooting was done by reason of sudden, violent, and irresistible passion resulting from serious provocation.”
