The Battle Ground school board on Monday approved a 2025-26 district budget with $14 million in cuts.

Battle Ground Public Schools’ replacement education and operations levy failed in February and again in April. The current levy expires at the end of 2025. As a result, the district has eliminated 116 full-time staff positions and made other cuts, including eliminating middle school sports and a program that helps kindergarten students transition into school, according to the district’s budget webpage .

The $239.2 million general fund budget adopted by the board wasn’t as dire as anticipated. Previously, the board approved a “worst-case scenario” plan to cut $20 million from the 2025-26 school year budget . The planned cuts decreased by about $6 million due to changes in the district
