ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. —

An arrest has been made after a child was hurt by a truck driver accused of passing a school bus that was unloading in St. Tammany Parish, Monday afternoon.

The sheriff has arrested Mario Avila, 19, of Covington in connection with the incident. Advertisement

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, a school bus was unloading at the intersection of Hector Street and Montaigne in the Tall Timbers subdivision in Mandeville around 3:45 p.m.

Deputies say Avila was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck drove around the stopped school bus as the children were unloading.

One child, Alexa Leblanc, was clipped by the truck trying to walk to her house.
