KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A threat was made against a Kansas City elementary school that a fallen officer was known to volunteer at in the hours after his death.

Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools has confirmed that Banneker Elementary School was placed on lockdown earlier on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

District leaders said a threat was made earlier in the afternoon. Officers investigated but did not find it to be credible. Investigators are expected to remain on scene until the end of the day.

The lockdown was called just hours after the death of Kansas City, Kansas, Police Officer Hunter Simoncic, who was known to volunteer at the school weekly.
