(CNN)– Cracker Barrel is responding to all the backlash over its redesigned logo.

The restaurant chain unveiled a new minimalist logo last week that dropped the barrel and the old-timer many believe is supposed to be the uncle of the chain’s founder.

A wave of right-wing outrage followed, and the company’s stock nosedived more than 12% in a day.

Cracker Barrel posted a response on its website Monday, August 25.

It said the backlash shows them they could have done a better job sharing who they are and will always be.
