CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE)– An inmate at the Wyatt Detention Center was sentenced to an additional year in prison for smuggling cannabis into the facility.

Anthony Whyte, 50, reportedly received multiple documents from a visitor that were believed to be contaminated by a substance on May 21, 2023.

Upon FBI analysis, one of the eight pages was determined to have been treated with a synthetic cannabis compound.

Court documents show that Whyte arranged for the pages’ delivery through recorded telephone conversations made at the prison.

Whyte was sentenced on charges of conspiracy and providing and possessing contraband in prison.
