NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE)– Crowds gathered in Newport on Tuesday evening to rally against the Trump administration’s stop-work order on the Revolution Wind project.

The project, according to builders Ørsted, would generate enough energy once finished to power 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut, and sits at 80 percent completion.

Over 100 people turned up at the protest, according to organizers, upset about the potential effects of the pause and expressing their support for the project.

The protest also saw many state politicians in attendance, with Attorney General Peter Neronha, State Sen. Dawn Euer and State Rep. Lauren Carson speaking.
